In this computer-driven age where one can nearly do what one wishes as long as it involves a computer, such also means Computer Numerical Control (CNC) employs computer coding for the purpose of constructing devices about which people could only dream about a half-century ago. That means Tyger’s TG-SV8U3217 Military grade shovel is made to fit in a sturdy pack roughly the size of the shovel blade fitting within and contains much, much more than just a shovel.Anyone interested in Tyger’s shovel can find it here on Amazon and, if the prospective purchaser’s timimg is good, at a price that’s less than $100, even though the product is worth that and more.Lightweight but sturdier than such weight might suggest, this user couldn’t help but notice and appreciate the tight tolerances under which this product was constructed. The multiple sections – each having a specialized purpose different than that of any and all of every other part – fit together like fingers sliding into a well-made and well-fitted glove. From fire-starting to felling trees, the user of this Tyger shovel need not have a desparate need to dig a hole. However, should such need arise, it’ll handle that one, too. This tool is so finely made one suspects when up for sale it might belong in a jewelry store window as anywhere. It’ll also fit in an already too-packed trunk, so little is the required space for the muti-, muti-purpose tool. Indeed, so thoroughly considered in its build, the pack within which the Tyer shovel is contained has a number of carrying options including a simple (but sturdy) belt loop.If the reader has a need to be prepared for just about anything, it’s hard to imagine this shovel won’t be an important part of a purchaser’s emergency equipment for his or her vehicle. However, it does have one negative of such proportion that it just might cancel a sale: it doesn’t have an oxygen supply among that of the tool’s multifaceted equipment supply. Still . . .

Bought a few different folding showels. This one proved to be the best. This style of locking mechanism is better as in stronger, more secure and much faster than the screw type locking mechanism.

Bought this to store in the back of our Jeep Wrangler as a survival tool and general utility tool for off-roading. I’ve taken it apart, assembled it, tried it out for proof of functionality, and feel that the design and construction are really solid. I’m confident storing it right next to my fire-extinguisher, compressor, jack, and winch accessories to help us out in a pinch.

Ok, I almost didn’t order this shovel because of a couple of negative reviews that were posted. But then I saw that the company responded to those reviews and stated that it stands behind their products. Furthermore, I noticed that the vast majority of the posted reviews were positive, so I decided to give it a try. Best decision!!! I am very pleased with the quality of this tool. It is clearly a well-designed, high quality product! I immediately took it out and put it to the test. I started digging, chopping and sawing with it. Perfect!! I can’t find anything on it that I do not like. It is super strong, very easy to use and feels really solid in my hands. Impressed!! Heck, even the case that comes with it is made from high quality, thick cordura with wide, strong zippers. Wasn’t expecting that…Bonus!! If you are on the fence like I was, just order it! You will not be disappointed with this amazing survival shovel.

After having this tool in my possession for 5 days, I have gone over every aspect of it. Everything seems EXTREMELY well made and sturdy enough for the roughest use. EXCEPT one thing, the screw driver bit!! The hole where the bit is secured during use is larger than the bit itself. Once I placed the bit in (either end) it easily spun 2 or 3 degrees and MIGHT have fallen out if I turned the handle up side down. It was not a very tight or secure fit at all. I guarantee the bit would have spun in the plastic mounting hole before the screw I was working on was lose or tight. A much more secure mounting hole would have made this tool 100 out of 100. As it is, it is only 98 out of 100!!!

Pieces screw together and form a sturdy handle. There’s a lot of accessories in each section, many I will probably never use, but the handle feels solid with all of the sections screwed together. I bought the extra handle insert to make sure I had a bit more reach. All pieces, including the extra insert I bought, separate and fit into the pouch. Great package to throw in a small storage area.

was not sure about it , till I took it out on its first camping trip. So here is the scene … rain is just coming down{ monsoon} and now is flooding the shelter . so grabbed the shovel and stared digging a trench , was impressed with the durability . I wear logger boots , and this shovel held up to me stomping on the edge . I used the shovel the same as you would a regular garden shovel , it didn’t back down, bend, or fall apart .{ I had to go through rocky ground , this was not Tennessee clay ground }. then I used the spade option to rebury the trench . The only bad thing is … the end of the shovel is not like your traditional loop handle design, there by having to wear field gloves to prevent blisters I also would suggest getting the handle extension during camp site use, making it more of a traditional handle size for non-back packing use. all in all , it has earned its right to be in the camp tool box .

Just received this, so no actual use, but I can already tell this is a quality product. Very well made, but still manages to be reasonable in weight. You can tell a lot of thought was put into the design. The only ding is the lack of a notch for full closed which leads to the shovel randomly popping open to grappling position, but only a problem when removing from or putting back into the sturdy carrying bag. A minor annoyance and you learn to hold the shovel during removal or insertion into the bag.Speaking of the bag, there is an extra unused sleeve, which could have held an additional extension, but isn’t used. Perhaps it would have weakened the handle to go beyond 36″.Overall, this is a really nice piece of kit and well worth price.

As mentioned in my video, I drive a small, off-road capable vehicle and I wanted a multi-functioning shovel for recoveries, camping and general use. This shovel is compact, light and fits perfectly in the back of my Subaru. Every component is well made, sturdy and it looks great too!
