Original Post (June 2, 2021) – I use this pump as the engine behind my dutch bucket hydroponics system. This is my first hydroponics system, so I am starting small with only 5 dutch buckets. I love that this pump has a very easy to use output adjustment. I have it on the lowest setting and anticipate increasing it when I add more buckets.Update (Oct. 14, 2021) – I have used this pump all summer long to run my tomato dutch bucket system (see updated picture). This pump is connected to an automated timer and runs for 45 minutes, 3 times a day, 7 days a week. That equals roughly 300 hours. l never had any issues, even when the water level fell fairly low during hottest part of summer. This pump is solid. I took the attached short video AFTER running this all season while I was cleaning it. Super easy to clean, still runs strong. So happy with this purchase and you will be too.All-in-all, i am very happy.- Great Price- Great Quality- Great Product

I gave it five stars because while it isn’t quite up to the job I asked it to do, it’s good for its rating.I used it in what’s called a Dutch bucket line, a hydroponic growing set-up where solution is pumped from a reservoir to the tops of 5-gallon buckets to feed plants set in cups in the lids. The tops of the buckets are about 2-1/2 feet above the solution level in the reservoir.I first tried to run 1/4″ tubing along beside the bottoms of the buckets but soon realized that the combination of small tubing and ten separate 20-inch lifts was way beyond this pump’s pay grade. I then tried 1/4″ tubing run along the tops of the buckets, but 25 total feet of 1/4″ tube was too much resistance for this pump.I then used 1/2″ tubing in a loop along the tops of the buckets. That was barely within the pump’s capability. Had it all been down at reservoir level, or had it been a shorter run of tubing, it would have worked. As it was, it wasn’t reliable.I will be replacing it with a 1375 GPH pump. But that in now way faults this little pump for appropriate jobs, like a single fountain.

I’ve been buying pumps from Home Depot only to have them continually go out. While I like the filter on the homedepot pump (has a Thin sponge that sticks on the intake line) I also like that all I have to do on this pump is wipe the intake opening free of leaves. It has done great and lasted well in my small goldfish pond outside through all seasons for a much better price than the $80 Home Depot one. It also runs my 18” waterfall beautifully.Updated: to add photos to show when holding the line it shoots a nice high arch to show pressure. The smaller waterfalls are run by another one of these on a split line. Love these pumps.

This pump works great for my sugar kettle fountain. Plenty powerful. Have it on low speed. Great price. At least 50% less than big box store’s price.

My basement is currently flooding during flash floods in my new house, first time in the new place. I ordered this pump for some minor jobs unrelated to the basement. At the time I am writing this we are in the middle of the COVID-19 lockdown, and i am very rural, everything local is closed. So this pump has been working overtime for several hours now pumping water out of the basement and doing a remarkable job, i’ve had to turn it off several times because it was no longer submerged. I fully expect the motor to burn up at some point tonight and if that happens I will order a new one right away to use in its intended role which I am sure it can handle. Little thing is saving the day until I can get to a hardware store and buy a proper sump pump. Couldnt be happier with this thing.
