I was very excited to get this knife and it surpassed my expectations. First let me get this out there: I’m sure many of you think this is a cheap entry-level knife and you’re entitled to that opinion but let me assure you this is quite a good knife. It comes razor sharp on both edges, the center of balance is right where it should be, and the sheath is very secure, all leather, the snap is tight, and it’s quite well made.Pro Tip: Keep your fingers on your hand by keeping them away from the blade when you sheath this knife.Modifications: The only thing I did with this knife is wrap the handle with 550 pc. I don’t think anything else is necessary until the powder coating on the blade starts to come off.

This knife costs $16. Let’s just get that out of the way. I have two collector’s knives and they weren’t $16. Also, just a little tip to those who are prone to cutting themselves with this, slide the knife into the sheath until all the sharpity sharpy bits are covered then pull the button thingy around the hilt and snap it. Is it called a hilt on knives? I don’t know and I don’t care. Anyway, 7Cr17MoV is not top of the line steel. If you like and buy knives you know this. It’s basically a sub average steel that sharpens up nicely but looses its edge fairly quickly. It’s not fair to compare this knife to a higher end Benchmade or Spyderco because it’s not trying to be that and it’s unapologetic at doing so. This is not an EDC knife used for box cutting or Bush crafting or anything work or job related. It’s a “get me the f out of this sh” knife. It’s incredibly light and well balanced as other reviewers have noted. It’s sharp and comes with a quality sheath. I’d recommend it as a boot knife more than a fixed blade knife you keep on your belt. I keep a Fallkniven F1 on my belt for cutting meat or general bush crafting, a Spyderco UK pen knife with S110V steel on my pocket for work and this wonderful little dagger strapped on my ankle for a get the F* out of this Sh* situation if one arises. It’s $16. Negative reviewers, get over it.

We own several S&W knives, and they never disappointed us. Because of spinal problems, my husband no longer wears jeans, or pants with a belt, so he wanted something strong, but light to carry in his track pants or boot. This knife fills both roles perfectly. Comfortable in both boot, and inside wasteband. Real leather sheath and a black powdercoated blade are a nice touch.Doing a 3ft drop test, this knife completely penetrated the box it came in to it’s hilt.

This is my every day carry knife and its perfect for that and self defense. Its a great size large enough to make a bad guy think twice but small enough to not get in your way to much. The sheath it comes in is a awesome design for being able to pull the knife out with one hand very quickly, and the tension buckle is very stiff. It takes me both hands to open it up enough to get it around my belt or pretty much anything, but that also means once it’s on it’s not going to budge so even though it makes putting on a bit difficult I would say it’s more beneficial do to it being very secure. The handle compound is very nice it’s a comfortable grip that fits good in the hand and it grips well it won’t be sliding around in your hand at all. The high carbon steel comes plenty sharp for any use, but also sharpens very nicely and takes a edge great. The black coating seems of high quality I have used and carried my knife almost daily for many months now and none has wore off, the whole knife actually still looks brand new. The level of quality you get for the price here is admirable and I tip my hat to S&W for the price point.

Size is perfect, for a concealed, tactical knife! Handle is a hard rubber, feels right in the hand, whether holding in general grip or in other tactical/defense grips. The knife is just small enough to conceal or wear perfectly in a boot, with a blade big enough to perform numerous tasks. Something about a S&W, their products never fail to satisfy! With the price of this, I will probably purchase more for Christmas/Birthday gifts!

Very ergonomic and easy to handle. The sheath is what sold me to it. It’s thick and well designed with flip snap hook. The knife itself is just the right length. Good size to fit my grip. I have medium size hand and this feel very comfortable. I used magnet to test if this is full tang. It is.Highly recommended.

I bought this knife to replace the no longer easy to find, Kershaw Amphibian. So far it is up to my standards, and I wouldn’t change a thing. After reading some reviews I would like to note that this type of knife is illegal to conceal in Washington state. However, not much of the hilt needs to be visible for it to be legal. A local police officer showed me a trick for belt wearers to make these legal to carry and extremely fast to deploy. Added bonus you can barely see it.Normally with the way the belt clip is, that clipped to a belt it will ride high on waist and also make it illegal to carry and frankly hard to deploy. However by flipping the knife point up and clipping it to the belt. (I put the whole sheath between belt and pants with clip facing outward.) The hilt is visible making it legal, and when needing to deploy its a grab and click away. It basically almost drops into your hand.Only draw back with this knife is putting it back in the sheath. Something i don’t mind, as I don’t deploy it unless needed.

A few noteworthy aspects for a well deserved 5 star product. 1.) This Knife is an extremely effectivly made Self-defense weapon. 2.) The Clip is remarkably durable and highly adaptable to preference, making placement on Belt, Boot, or M.O.L.L.E gear an easy task.3.) Effortless Deployment with Thumb Break (below button clasp) for quick release with thumb/index finger.4.) The Handle is Rubberized/Ridged with a Wide Double Guard to prevent hand from slipping down.5.) Includes a small Brass tube lanyard hole for para-cord or whatever you prefer. When it comes to any negative remarks regarding the SWHRT9B, I would just suggest some people do their due diligence before they make a purchase. I see comments like, “Not the Best Collector’s Knife,” “Handle is too Short,” “Cut my Leg.” I must encourage the cynics to realize a few things:1.) More times than not, a knife at this price point is not going to be a collector’s item.2.) The Handle is not “too Short,” it’s just too short for your intended use or flawed expectations.3.) Don’t buy a knife boasting a Duel Edged Spear Point Blade if you don’t know how to handle it.The Bottom Line: If one is using this blade for its intended purpose, namely, self defense, I believe it meets all standards and could very well be a life saver.

I just got the knife today and I love the blades. I was reading some of the reviews and I set it down on my lap closer to my knee and as I made a movement to pick it u, the blade barely whisped by knee as you can see in the pic! Sharp little bugger.

Yes this knife is nothing like the knives that cost triple the price. But for 15$ this thing is a beast. I know some people are complaining about the handle being too small. I have small hands so I can actually get a full 4 finger fist around it no problem and grip is good, however I have just enough room for this as if the knife was designed for my own hand. For someone with bigger hands than me which is gonna be most men, yeah this handle might be too small for this knife to be significantly useful to you. But yeah fortunately for me the handle is perfect and I have no complaints about the blade quality either. It can be sharpened if needed but it cuts through boxes no problem as is. The matte style coating on it doesn’t really bother me it’s actually kind of satisfying to run my fingers across it, and it doesn’t seem to effect performance. Last but not least the sheath this thing comes with is awesome. Smooth leather and easy access with the belt clip/button lock. All you could ask for really in a knife this cheap.
