I got this at a great price so i ordered it to see what all the fuss is about. I have a ka-bar kukri that i use most the time when out hunting and small jobs around the house but there are time when a little extra length would be nice, as well as other times when i different blade design better suited for vegetation would be helpful. This golok fits the bill in almost every situation i’ve come across. It is best suited for chopping, which it does as well as my kukri, but still gets through the thick vegetation with ease. I find myself clearing spots at the hunting lease that i’d normally walk past with my kukri. I’m happy.

Wife is sick of me swinging this around in our media room. Feels so cool! I have no good use for it, but what a great toy. Super hilt, that doesn’t slip. Wide metal on the blade. Sharp. Once you start swinging – the feel of the blade makes you want to continue. Great value for the money.

I grew weary of my $20 machetes not being able to bring down small branches and 4″ bamboo, without having multiple deflections and very little bite. This thing is very very thick and sturdy. Has significant weight and impact. I no longer have to worry about working too hard to cut down a 2″ branch, 2-3 hits and it’s down.I very much like the curved blade end, which seems to help quite a bit on starting a good notch. Beefy, sturdy, reasonably heavy, everything you need to make a branch submit. The strong curve on the handle makes for a better grip and less slipping. My only gripe is that the walnut handle, which is hand shaped, seemed to have been missed when flushing the wood with the rivets and the surface had lots of poorly sanded/unshaped edges. (like it was rushed through or something)

Branch new into the machete world here, and this is my very first. But I do have a friend who understand a way more and was impressed with the quality. Apart of that I’ve seen great reviews of Condor Knifes, so it seems like they have their things together. The handle is very well made, the counter weight give you a great balance and response, plus the knife’s thickness proportionate a great action, and makes it sturdy enough for you to feels like you can go and do what you’re supposed to… if that even made any sense, but yeah, cut a bunch of branches, shrubs, and slashed some thicker vegetation in my land.

First of all, the machete itself – a beautiful item; it looks very impressive (the images don’t do it justice!), has a good, sturdy weight, feels overall solid, and is nice and sharp. Just a quality build all around.Secondly, I must praise Condor for their wonderful customer service. My sheath had a large rip/tear on it out the box (not the company’s fault; the shipping box wasn’t adequate). When I contacted Amazon customer support they wanted me to send the entire product back, machete and all, even though there was nothing wrong with that part. It was either a full replacement or a refund. I know this is standard practice.I contacted Condor to explain and see if they could help, and after sending them a photo of the problem, they actually shipped a new sheath out to me, completely out of their own pocket/expense. It arrived today, completely intact! They didn’t have to do this, and is the sign of a strong, decent company. Very surprised and delighted, and they will now have a repeat customer. Even though it seems counter-intuitive, considering you’re reading this on Amazon, I’d actually recommend you buy directly from Condor (and no, I’m not shilling for them!); you then have far better support and don’t have to rely on a good heart to help.Back to the machete… As said, a high quality product that will last for years.

Did a bit of research and saw all the glowing reviews for Condor knives which committed me to trying the brand. Then I had to pick which machete to buy for my backpacking adventures in the Pacific Northwest. I landed on this one because it seemed tough enough to chop through big branches, hatchet style. I was most surprised by the massive degree angle of the blade. It weighs a lot more than the cheaper jungle machetes I’ve seen, but will surely last generations under infrequent, monthly use. The sheath is thick and will stand up to lots of use as well. In my first outing I made quick work of a 6 inch diameter pieces of drift wood on the beach, chopping into manageable logs. Looking forward to more adventure.

Excellent machete and I am very happy I bought it. This tool will receive a lot of work on my property helping me to control the Blackberries. I bought a TOPS Machete before this and paid twice as much and this Condor Machete is way better than the TOPS and TOPS knives is one of my absolute favorite knife brand. Don’t think about buying this Condor Machete, just buy it. You absolutely will NOT be disappointed. I’m going to buy the Condor axe next to help with my chores. Great product!

Every now and then you come across a tool which borders on art. You buy it for a purpose and then you are reluctant to use it because it is so perfect that you don’t want to spoil the beauty of it. It fits your hand perfectly. It is designed and executed in such a manner that you think that it may become a collectors item of increasing value in the future. This is such an item. I bought one of these and was highly impressed. Then I bought a second figuring that I would pick the lesser of the two for actual use. It was a difficult comparison. The quality was very consistent. If you have ever bought a high end bench plane you will understand. If you appreciate beauty in function buy this tool.

My idea is that it’ll replace my axe when I go camping. Came really sharp and just needed a few strokes on my ceramic rod and now it’s really sharp. Love the sheath. It was a really tight draw at first but I oiled it up and now it’s much better. Used it to baton some wood and it works great, was just blasting through logs. Still pretty crazy sharp after taking it out. Used to use a kabar swabbie which is another 1/4 inch thick blade but 1095 crovan and I’ve seen two of those fail in the field but of course those blades aren’t made for bushcraft shit like that but they worked great while they lasted. Anyways hoping this 1075 will last alot longer like hopefully forever lol. I know you shouldn’t use blades for batoning generally but it’s a risk I’m aware of. I Always bring a bk9 as backup j.i.c.. Considering a smaller axe the size of the fiskars x11 if I want to go smaller….maybe see what else condor has if this thing continues to impress me because they have some cool looking stuff.

I’ve been swinging machetes for around 25 years now. I’ve been through various brands. Some of them I’ve given up on and others just didn’t hold up through the years. This is by far the best I have ever owned. This machete arrived brand new and in retail packaging. It was boxed up and packaged very well. The machete was wrapped in plastic and not even inserted in the sheath. The sheath is separately wrapped in plastic and everything was inside the factory box.I’ve heard and read so many good things about Condor machetes. After deciding on this Golok for it’s size and shape, I found that what everyone is saying is absolutely true. This will be the last machete I will be needing in this size. If I ever do get another machete it will be another Condor, and only because I might want one of their larger sizes. The machete is sharp right out of the box. It is a good size for throwing in a backpack or clearing limbs out of a trail. I have been using it a lot in both of those scenarios. The handle is still very firmly attached to the blade. No loose handle like you would find with cheaper machetes. The blade is thick and solid. You aren’t going to shake the blade and make that metal warbling sound that you can with cheap machetes.I like the design of the handle. The curved design with the bigger and thicker end keeps the machete in place in my hand throughout use. It is very comfortable to hold and use throughout the day. My hand is not fatigued after an extended period of use.The leather sheath is the best I have ever seen. It is so well constructed. This is definitely worth every penny. I can’t stand the cheap nylon sheath that you typically get with a machete. This leather sheath gets used a lot. It’s either protecting the blade from cutting stuff in my backpack or allowing me to carry on my side. I don’t put the sheath on my side if I’m going to be doing a lot of sitting, it does swivel and allow you to sit, but for me it is mostly when I’m going to be out in the woods. One day I left the machete in the floorboard of my car overnight and into the next day. We had a very cold night and a hot day. The temperature fluctuation caused moisture to build up on the metal and retain in the leather sheath. When I pulled the machete out it had a little bit of rust at the edge of the blade. A little sanding and the rust is gone. This was my fault. I’m not used to the leather and metal combination . I won’t be leaving it in a place where the temperature will fluctuate rapidly. My car may have had a little moisture in the floorboard as well.I’m not an expert at sharpening things. This edge is one of the easiest edges to work with for me. I have a puck with some honing oil that I use on all yard equipment. I’ve been using the puck on this machete and can keep it very sharp. Like I said, I’m no expert and can still keep a good edge on it.If you are reading this without an edit then the machete is still working fine and everything is holding up well. If anything changes I will update this review. If you have any questions please feel free to ask.
