First off, I’m 5’7”, 190#, and a woman. I’m not exactly the target here, but that makes this a good review for others looking for a cold weather bag. I slept two nights below freezing in this bag, with ice coating the tent on the second morning. Note: The temp rating is IF you are wearing a base layer, hat, and maybe mittens. I tried the bag on its own and there is no way this is a zero degree without the mid-weight base layers unless you are someone who sweats in a blizzard. Mind your ground cover too. The cold definitely soaks in if you don’t properly insulate the floor. I had plenty of leg room, plenty of shoulder space, and the material is soft. The internal cinch is awesome and keeps the breeze out of the bag and the face conch gets sufficiently tight around the face. The zipper system is great and does not get caught. I look forward to sleeping in this sleeping bag again.

This is a relatively inexpensive sleeping bag, i got it for under 50 bucks. So i wasn’t surprised at the bulk or weight of it. if you want a lightweight sleeping bag rated for 0 or below, you’ll have to spend more money, so im not gonna knock off stars for its weight, this review is about the sleeping bags warmth, and how comfortable it is to spend the night in. In that case it gets 5 stars. its incredibly warm, even when compared to higher end 0 degree bags filled with down. the extra bulk really makes for a comfortable sleep and it has plenty of room for a bigger guy (6’2″ 220lbs) like myself. ive only spent one trip in it and the coldest it got was 6 degrees with the average night hovering around 13. that being said i slept in my layers, only removing my boots, gloves, and outer shells on my chest and legs. I was nervous about sleeping in such cold weather with an untested bag but after the first night my fears were gone. It felt like i was home in my bed with the heat on. My toes were a little cold in the morning but my toes are always cold in the morning even at home. If its a problem for you im sure an extra layer of wool socks will do the trick. Anyways to sum it up if youre on a budget and going to be spending some nights in the cold, i cant recommend this bag enough. However just keep in mind its not a compact bag.

Purchased this for elk hunting in the winter. Lowest the temps have gotten is in the 20’s and one night it was snowing, but I stayed perfectly warm in a tent with this sleeping bag. I’m 5’9, 200, and there is plenty of room inside it for me. I don’t feel cramped and my feet do not touch the end. The bag fits snug around my shoulders (but not uncomfortable tight) which helps keep in warm air throughout the night. On a few occasions, I’ve had to unzip the bag during the night to let cool air in. My only complaint, and it’s not enough to drop a star, but the carrying bag this comes in is very small. It sometimes takes 2 people to put this sleeping bag back into the carrying case.*** Update ***After using this bag a few more times for camping, I’ve figured out how to properly roll it up so it goes into the carrying bag more easily. Start at the top of the bag and fold it in half length ways. 3/4 down the bag where it tapers to a smaller size, leave that part unfolded. As you roll the bag up, the small end should be the same width as the top half when its folded. This will reduce the thickness of the bag when rolled up, and it will go into the carrying bag much easier. At first, I would fold the bag in half lengthways, all the way down, then roll it up. This was making it too bulky to fit properly in the bag and would take 2 people to put it in. Now, I can roll it up and have it back in the bag in about a minute.I’ve attached some pictures that show the dimensions of the sleeping bag rolled up in the carrying bag. This may be helpful for anyone that is planning on using this bag for backpacking, but not sure if it will be too bulky. Also, so you can see how the size of this bag compares to a larger sleeping bag, I took a picture of it laying on top of a Teton XXL sleeping bag.Dimensions: – Length from end to face opening: 73″ – Width at the shoulders: 30″

Great bag, keeps me super warm, I live in Colorado and do lots of camping and in the cooler months , this bag has been great . I actually became hot throughout the night ,when it was about 20 degree out side and snowing.I love the hood part , you can wrap your pillow in it and then pull the strings to fit your comfort level.Zippers work great can pull up when inside bag .Stuff sack is okay, I’d like it if was a little smaller . It’s a little two big for back packing, which sort of sucks ,bc this is one reason why I got the bag .Other than that , it’s a great bag .

well, happy campers, let me fill you in to a little coleman sleeping-bag history lesson.[pay attention!! there’s going to be a test!!] ha! ha! o.k. guys. when I was growing up, a long time ago, when ever we had our prime-time memorial-day fishing trip to up-state pa., or later-on, upstate n. y., we would always up-grade our camping gear to go along with our fishing trip, because, when you are young, you never understand the importance of eating good and sleeping good have on how much you enjoy your trips to the great outdoors!! we always up-graded our sleeping bags with the newest coleman sleeping-bag, but always ran into the same problems or flaws, if you will. number 1 was the weight of the bag, always heavy, but not warm enough for the weight, then there was the short length of the bag, which never seemed to cover your head completely, when the frost rolled in, in the middle of the night, and woke you up shivering, but you could never seem to get fully covered-up. and lastly, the way your feet [your toes, really] always felt crushed, when they were crushed against that metal zipper, that was always ice-cold!! i’m getting a chill running through me!! so any-way, enter 2018, and I need a great sleeping-bag for a special deer hunt, to a really cold at night area. first stop? you guest it, coleman!! and I find the north-rim mummy-bag. I hit the reviews, and I see the 5050 split for good and not so good, but something about that picture is telling me that some thing has changed about coleman camping sleeping-bags!! man, what a warm, roomy, full-size, plenty of room to wiggle your toes, and cover-up your complete head and face, and no more cold spots, and a sleeping bag that weights only 3.75 lbs.[ no lie!!] bring on that 2 a.m. frost!! I slept through the coldest night and was warm the entire night!! and what a great sewn-on emblem of the coleman lantern, I can hear that spurtering sound of the compressed gas going into those cloth mantles, and see that brite- burning nite-lite now, hey, maybe I should order a couple extra packs of mantles for the lantern…… happy trails to all!!

People’s reviews are like: “I decided to test my new sleeping bag out by sleeping naked three quarters of the way up Mt. Everest in the winter. I felt slightly colder than I would have if I had been at home. Two stars.”I love my new sleeping bag, and it seems like with a good compression sack I’ll be rockin and rollin with warmth and comfort on the trail.

OK lets start from the fact that I’ve owned and slept in this thing from September of last year to April this year EVERY DAY regardless of weather (i love sleeping outdoors) I’m in MARYLAND and we’ve had some PRETTY cold days here! (granted it’s not Canada or Alaska but several weeks worth of below freezing and few days in single digits) where I’m at is particularly windy so temps are 5-10 deg lower than elsewhere.1. tent was set up on slight slope. sitting on a TARP so water was non issue2. not a drop of water throughout winter (moisture from BREATH HELL yeah)4. we had several super snow days about 2-3ft of snow each time – as you can see in the picture it was heavy but tent withstood all SNOW DAYS no problem and bag kept me warm on all of them. (I’ve slept in this BAG on every one of those nights – PITA to get out of snowed in tent trying not to get your PJ’s wet but I’ve managed).5. I’ve survived MANY winter storms – it blows where i live!!6. I’ve stowed it in late April and looking at it! I’m certain it’ll serve me next fall/winter/spring! and many after.7. you are warm and cozy with just the bag until about 25deg – after that I’ve augmented with a large cheap bag I’ve had. (twofer made it all good – until 3degs that was the lowest it got this winter)now the bad!1. when spring sun comes up it’s HOT but that’s expected.2. condensation never really leaves unless left openedgreat BAG DO NOT LISTEN TO ANYONE HERE THEY HAVE NO IDEA HOW TO SET UP A TENT IF THEY HAD ISSUES.have a GREAT DAY

Who knew it could be so cold at night in the desert in May? Thankfully we looked at the predicted weather before leaving on our big 3 week cross country trip. We knew that the average lows at the Grand Canyon would be in the upper 20’s, and we were prepared! For Christmas, Santa brought all three kids Coleman North Rim 0 degree sleeping bags. These bags will keep you comfortable down to 15 degrees. Actually, the biggest complaint the kids had were that they were too hot! These bags are incredibly plush and thick and extremely comfortable (although, if you are a restless sleeper like I am, they do make turning difficult as it is a mummy bag).Pros: Extremely warm, thick, and plush. Zipper is easy to use and the bag is snug around your head but not constricting. Great to use in a popup, tent, or RV!Cons: This is an extremely bulky sleeping bag, and would not be good for the serious hiker (we couldn’t get it back in the carry bag). This bag was great for my kids since they are still on the small side at 12 and under. I, however, toss and turn all night and it was difficult to move around so much (I’m 5’4”). Therefore, it may be tight for a larger person.Overall, we all gave it 5 out of 5 stars! We would happily purchase this bag again for our kids. I’d even purchase one for myself if I needed an extremely warm sleeping bag. I would not purchase it for my husband who is 6’ and around 260 pounds as he would probably feel too constricted.Check out our trip on Twitter @2016happycamper or on Facebook, Happy Campers

Let me start by saying I have both the Coleman 25 degree and the Mountain Hardwear 15 degree sleeping bag. The reason why I purchased this sleeping bag in the last minute was because my Mountain Hardwear sleeping bag was being lend out at the time to a friend and I didn’t want to burn through my wallet trying to get another 0-15 degree sleeping bag from Mountain Hardwear. This is where the Coleman 0 degree sleeping bag comes in. The 25 degree version has been heavily used by my parents and I wasn’t sure if my feet were going to survive the night at Yosemite during the Christmas holiday where the forecast temperature for night time was around 10-17 degrees and 20-30 degrees during day time. Last minute decision and impulse took me to Coleman where the price was extremely budget friendly and my campsite being within walking distance really helps. Sure enough, night time came and it was around 12 degrees and as the fire started to burn out at the pit and I made my way back to tent. This was a make or break it moment for Coleman…This sleeping bag did was it was supposed to do! Kept me warm and toasty. I would however recommend this to be used in addition to wearing thermals and a tent. Those two really helps to keep the cold for the most part away from you.PRO:1. Plush & Comfortable2. 0 degrees certified!CON:1. HEAVY2. BIG BIGConclusion:This sleeping is a perfect fit for those casual and/or urban car campers where traveling is in short distance and weight isn’t problem. The reason why this sleeping bag is so darn heavy compared to my Mountain Hardwear is because this sleeping bag uses other alternatives compared to the goose feathers that are found in my Mountain Hardwear. Hence, the extra filling required to make up for the equivalent of my 800 filled goose down. Would I recommend this to a budget conscious person? Absolutely! WHY PAY $300+ for an light to ultra light goose down sleeping bag when you can just get this $50 dollar sleeping bag that is plush, warm and very comfortable for a fraction of the price. There are sacrifices for my goose feather sleeping bag but for casual car camping! Hands down…Coleman you win!
