I was talked into getting one of these for my last 3-day backpacking trip. Now I will probably bring it on every trip, it is so small and light, easy to attach on the outside of the bag, and is so useful. Keeps you warm and clean when you sit on the ground, I used it as a knee pad when I was making a fire or setting the tent., and at night I put in under my other sleeping pad for extra insulation from the ground. My only issue is I got the earthy colored one and kept forgetting it when Id take breaks because it blends in with whatever I set it on. I recommend getting a brighter colored one so you don’t lose it. If you’re a heavy backpacker, I think this will last a about a year or 2 in durability.

This pad is great, I was amaze how light it was. When folded up, there is an elastic cord with plastic clasp that keeps it from unfolding on you.I used this pad frequently while hunting this past year. At times I would sit for hours on this pad, it provided a reasonable amount of cushion for these periods and for hunters, this pad is quiet as long as the fabric you are wearing does not stick to it. Additionally the foam does act as an insulation if sitting on snow, which was nice. My only issue in the snow was the pad is a bit small and I ended up getting my back side a bit wet.Overall great pad. For size, it’s close to the size of a standard pillow you would sleep on only narrower. If you are a bigger person or think you would like to spread out a bit, one idea is buy a similar Therm-a-Rest sleeping pad and cut it into two or three sections, cut in thirds, each pad would be about 50% larger than this size. The only issue is you do not get the nice elastic cord to hold it together.

I sat on a thin metal stool on a chilly night with one buttcheek on the aluminized version of this seat and one cheek on the non-aluminized version (coyote brown) for 10 minutes and measured both my butt as well as the metal stool’s surface temp with an inferred thermometer multiple times. The readings did not have a consistent or significant difference. Both the aluminized version and non-aluminized version are great. Great for backpacking, picinc benches, thermally-conductive aluminum bleachers or anywhere your butt may roam.

Great sit pad. At 2oz it very light and still comfortable. Stores easy in the side pocket or on top of my pack.

I bought this for my elderly mother, whose backside is “sparse”. My thought was to use it as an addition to her shower chair, but we both immediately recognized its value as a “travel” cushion for her – it’s size and fold-up portability make it perfect to “take with”. It’s small, light and discreet enough that she can use it in, say, the hard church pews, etc. Another “she’s happy, I’m happy” purchase. She really likes it!

When you’re backpacking it’s easy to collect lots of gear that individually doesn’t weigh much but collectively ends up weighing too much. If you’re looking for something to keep your butt off the wet rocks/logs/ground, in my estimation this is worth the weight “sacrifice”. Tip: Be careful if you strap it outside your pack though; it’s so light that if it falls off you likely won’t notice until it’s too late. I think this will now be part of my permanent gear; I’m very happy with it.

I was a bit skeptical about this pad – when would I use it? But it comes highly recommended so I tried it out. It’s awesome! I took it on a three day rafting trip last weekend and used it all the time. It’s a great kneeling pad when packing gear or cooking at a picnic table, it kept my butt dry after our folding chairs got wet, and it worked as a perfect seating pad on the raft itself! This lil’ pad is now on my camping essentials list.

I have never wanted to give an item MORE than five stars until this one. I’ve been using my trusty Z Seat for over a year on longer, section-hikes on the Florida Trail and Appalachian Trail, now. I keep it strapped to the outside of my backpack where it is most easily accessed. I simply won’t take a break, have lunch, etc. without breaking this bad boy out! Keeps my butt out of the dirt, damp, and cold. This keeps me both comfortable and cleaner. Even in camps with a bench or picnic table, this is SO much more comfortable. Works as a great “Welcome Mat” outside of the tent at night to help with crawling out in the middle of the night to go potty. I’ve used mine for a seat, a pillow, a backrest, and just a cleaner surface to put my stuff on. I’m not being superfluous when I say that the Z Seat is my BEST purchase and one of my MOST appreciated and useful pieces of backpacking gear.

This was a last minute buy for a recent backpack trip in the Sierras and I’m very glad I had it along. Weighs almost nothing and folds up small, so easy to pack. I was the envy of my backpack group. I used it to sit on as well as kneel on. Kept my butt and knees dry on the wet ground after a storm and made any surface to sit on comfortable. Can’t recommend this enough and won’t go backpacking without one. I kept it in an outside pocket on my pack for a quick draw sitting pad. Wonderful!

Weighs very little. Keeps your butt warm, even on packed snow. Great as a kneeling “chore pad” while you cook or chop kindling. Smaller than I expected, but big enough to do the job. This might work as a ground pad for a 20 pound dog, but it’s definitely too small for my 45 pound mutt.
