Only one downside – The length of the shaft is adjustable, but even at it’s longest, I still end up hunching over to use this trimmer. I’m six feet tall. That’s more of a defect with ME than the trimmer. The autofeed works great, it eats the heck out of most everything I throw at it. The motor is fairly powerful, so make SURE to wear some eye protection when you’re cutting up against a wall or rocks. Or other hard things. I also learned to BREATHE THROUGH MY NOSE when trimming up against the house.

I’ve always had gas trimmers until this. Very impressed with it so far. Surprised on how well it cuts. Lightweight and easy to use. No shoulder or back pain after using for extended periods. The wheel makes edging a breeze. Easier to store since it collapses down.

Buy it, you wont regret it. For a small wacker, it does a great job. I have a little problem with the string getting too long but I think I don’t lock it in properly.

So I decided to order an electric trimmer and mower to use this summer. With my husband deployed to the middle east, I decided I needed something easy to use that was still functional enough to handle our yard. I went with Black + Decker because we’ve used their brand in the past with smaller power tools and felt they were a good investment. After one use I’m happy to say I’m not disappointed. They were simple enough to assemble and I trimmed our yard within minutes. Handling things alone is significantly less daunting and my husband is going to have to fight me to use these tools when he gets back.

This one is a beast…I finally got tired of pulling on a gas one and didn’t want to deal with maintaining batteries. I chose the largest Amps with <16” cutting radius. The trade off is pulling an extension cord around as I edge the yard, but this thing eats. I learned to use the permanently fixed roller for the vertical edging feature as my visual guide around my fruit trees. The no bump auto feeder was convenient as flawless. The unit uses 0.065” cord and a lot of it, so the initial (maybe 30’ of cord) lasted only an hour.

I bought this unit to replace a dead gas-powered trimmer. It runs very well, as long as one remembers a couple of admonitions.1. It’s not made for clear-cutting swamps and underbrush. It’s for home lawn and landscaping service. The motor is rated at about 1/2 horsepower. It’s not designed for use by lumberjacks.2. Never set the head down into the middle of the patch to be trimmed. Move it slowly into the target area. And don’t force it into the grass or weeds. Let it do its thing and just guide it. Stressing it can easily lead to improper operation or failure.Don’t expect miracles. It’s 50 bucks. Try pricing the beasts used by the pros.
Prove It To Me –
Gas or electric, hands down, this is the best weed trimmer I have ever used. I wanted an electric corded trimmer – no rechargeable or gas! I am a fanatic about reading assembly instructions and was not disappointed. It took me five minutes to put it together. Ir is a very solid tool! Took it out this morning to try on my weeds (lots of them in this western soil). It whizzed through them like they were not there. What a powerful motor. I had never bought a B&D lawn tool before and this was to replace a Green Works unit that went belly up. I don’t think you could go wrong with this. Be careful, though, and wear eye protection.

From pulling out of the box to being able to use took about 10 minutes and that was primarily because you need a phillips screwdriver for one screw (that I had to go retrieve from the garage). Other than that, the adjustable arm length was perfect especially with the guidance provide by the manual explaining how comfortably far to make it for your outstretched arm. Lightweight and trimmed beautifully around stones and next to walls.Well built (espc for home use and designed for anyone’s height.) If you haven’t used one in a long time, read the 2 small paragraphs about how to angle the trimmer – with that understood, it worked exactly as promised.

I’m a lady in my 70s who is self isolating due to the COVID 19. Doing my own yard work is important and keeps contacts with others to a minimum. I was pleasantly surprised when the trimmer was delivered a day early, and It was assembled easily with very specific directions. The trimmer works very well, and the side yard that was overgrown looks so much better after cutting the tall grass. The patio is also much neater after using the tool as an edger. The string feeds as advertised, and there is still string left on the spool for more tidying up in the yard. I would recommend this to others, including people who are weak or arthritic. It’s a very helpful tool.

The Black + Decker electric string edger is light enough for me to use and it trims great. I have over an acre of land and there are many areas that the riding mower can’t go. The trimmer has helped me very much.
