As one who faints at gory descriptions, passes out at the sight, I can assure you that he wants you to learn how to be prepared, what to do and not do, should you need to assist someone medically and he does not want to impress you with gore-stories. I purchased this book because I can afford to stock up on some SHTF med trauma gear and I have the time to read. I see reviewers disappointed that they won’t learn how to treat gunshot wounds while empty handed in the woods… really, how often do you find yourself in the woods too far to run back to the car for your medic bag and call for help?

This Medical Handbook is written in a way that anyone should be able to follow the instructions. It even tells you what medical supplies you should have on hand. I found it very informative, easy to follow and would recommend it to anyone who would like to know what to do if in a situation where help is far away.

This book couldn’t be more important for times like today. If you take your safety and your family’s safety seriously, the tips you will learn in this book could save your life. At the very least, this excellent and comprehensive work will make you smarter and sharper. Something we all need today! Can’t recommend it highly enough! Great, great, GREAT!

This is an excellent book to have on hand. The organization of this book is easy to follow – it tells you how to reference material easily along with tables and references for diagnosis. I have purchased earlier copies of this author’s wilderness medicine and wilderness first aid books, which were wonderful as well. I keep these books on hand when on hiking trips, you never know when you will need it. Great book Dr. Forgey aka “Father of Wilderness Medicine!”

The book has a lot of great information, however, unless you work in the medical field, the items that are mentioned such as sutures, epi pen, some emervency burn creams need a perscription from your doctor. If there were a true emergency and someone is severly cut or has a severe reaction to something the items you need you cant get. Those that work as EMT, etc can get these, but in a true emergency they may not be able to reach you in time.Other than that it is a good reference

For decades I outfitted and guided canoe trips in northern Canada for the Science Museum of Minnesota. Many of our trips were above the Arctic Circle where help was an airplane ride away. On those trips I relied on Dr. Forgey’s classic text, WILDERNESS MEDICINE. This new book, :The Prepper’s Medical Handbook” is much more thorough. Equally important is that Dr. Forgey has spent considerable time in the bush. Where other medical authors will scream “evacuation” when things get dicey, Dr. Forgey knows that there are many scenarios where this isn’t practical. So he provides realistic alternatives–things you can do right now to save the day. The book covers all the important things plus a wealth of things I, as a non medical person, have never heard of. Forgey writes in an easy, friendly way that I can understand. If you’re going in harm’s way, get this book!

This isnโt the first โPrepper/Emergency Medical bookโ Iโve gotten. The others were full of irrelevant and obvious thing such as the definition of โsevere woundโ, โbe cautious!โ And just obvious things that were more or less fluff. But this book specified likely injuries and illnesses and such and your best ways of addressing them without a lot of fluff. Has simple illustrations when needed, tables etc. Things you would normally try to google specifically, but if thatโs not an option this book likely addresses it. Well organized. Easy to find specific things. Would recommend for any persons library.

Fast shipping. Exactly as advertised. The Prepper’s Medical Handbook is exactly what I was looking for. It has great information without being a TMI overload. Divided into chapters that make it easy to get to what you need in a hurry.

First, you don’t need to be a Prepper to find value in this book. The information is extremely well organized, informative and easy to (quickly) interpret and understand. I’ve found books like this are either a bit out of reach for the layperson, poorly organized or tell you how to identify / diagnose but fail to provide accurate treatment and or prevention.Dr. Forgey’s book offers several ways to quickly find the information you need with illustrations that can be interpreted at a glance. The medical kit he’s constructed is modular (bandaging / surgical, non-rx and Rx medications etc.), very thorough and provides quantities covering a 2-week, 1 year or 5 year time frames.Highly recommend whether you’re a prepper or (considering the recent pandemic) a proactive parent trying to keep the family out of harms way.
